We know it may not be an easy find…but we do know we WILL make it happen for her!

MAGGIE is an adorable, sweet 8-10 month old petite spayed female. She came in with Elsa, and another female, Indy, now Lilo, had been been picked up 2 weeks prior. All three were most likely littermates. They were young, stray, and at least out on their own for over a month. Both Indy & Elsa have been adopted.

We had an adopter lined up for Maggie, and they were fostering to adopt to make sure she was a good fit for their family. We soon started hearing that Maggie was so nervous with every new situation. She preferred staying in her crate, and it was impossible to get her out on walks. Fortunately there is no aggression with her at all.

We made the decision to send her to our friends at Peaceful Pets in Elverta, to get their thoughts on her needs. Since she has been there, we have learned so much. Most important she will need:

*At least one other, very friendly, playful dog companion in the home. She LOVES playing with other dogs. This has helped her with her success at Peaceful Pets. Other dogs that love the humans there, and slowly, she is observing, then joining in. Says James at Peaceful Pets: “She’s coming along. I feel like she is in her element around other dogs”.

*Someone committed to helping her build her confidence and who understands the process of building trust. They need to know that she may, or may not ever feel comfortable cuddling.

*No Children. Even though she may be ok with them, their play or interaction could be too unpredictable for Maggie.

*A big bonus for her would be a nice sized grassy space for her to run with her new best friend!

*Potential adopter will talk to one of our coordinators, and we will also have you talk with the people at Peaceful Pets. We need to make sure that her needs are met, as she is doing really well with those that really understand her.

We will never know why Maggie is so afraid of things. Most likely this was due to an extreme lack of socialization and not exposing her to sounds, places, and events when she was a younger puppy. If Maggie sounds like a girl you would love, and would love to make a difference for her, please reach out. Either fill out our application or contact us at ncwrinfo@googlegroups.com.
