AVAILABLE SOO: PIPER is a lovely Blue female Weim, small, 50 lbs, who is currently with our trainer in Redwood City. Once she heals from her spay surgery, our trainer will be working with her, and seeing how she does with small playgroups. We will still need to learn more about her before she is ready to go to an adopter, but we know she will need someone that is experienced with the breed, and can exercise her. She will benefit with ongoing training and possibly socialization with other dogs once we know she can play with them outside the home. So far she has been very dominant, and may do best as an only dog. She's an absolute sweetheart with people!
If you think she sounds like she may be good in your home, please fill out our application at https://form.jotform.com/212066727579162 |

RECEIVING MEDICAL CARE: MAGGIE is a gentle, very sweet girl who came to us in early May after she was picked up as a stray. It was apparent she had a very bad injury and likely had been hit by a car with no treatment given. While the pelvic fracture healed adequately, the tibial fracture in her rear leg did not. As a result, she is not using her leg and is in significant discomfort; this leg is 2 inches shorter than her left and shows substantial muscle atrophy since she has avoided using it for an unknown period of time.
NCWR Coordinators consulted with two orthopedic surgeons to get an understanding of her options and outcome. Both consults indicated that due to the nature of the injury that her best life moving forward would be achieved with a salvage procedure where the rear leg was amputated. Maggie will undergo that surgery towards the end of June. We have been told that it will cost approximately $2500-$4500 dollars and this is in addition to the vet bills so far. Maggie recently had several growths that we had removed and checked at which time we discovered she was spayed and also has had a gastropexy procedure to prevent bloat. During her short stay at the vet (and based on observations from her fosters), we also learned that she is almost entirely deaf. She does have an ear infection being treated in one ear and we hope some bit of residual hearing may be evident once that is cleared up. We will never turn away a dog like Maggie, so lovely and happy despite what has happened to her. But sometimes we ask help from our community of supporters so that we can continue our efforts to meet the needs of dogs with major medical issues that come to us. It’s believed that Maggie is five to eight years old (though her teeth are so good we first thought three or four!). She will be available for adoption next month after she recovers from her surgery. Tripawds can live wonderful and active lives, and without the pain of the leg, we expect her to be much more mobile. As her true personality comes out and she regains her lost mobility we will provide updates. We want to evaluate her under her new “normal” daily routine so we know what the best type of forever home is for her. She is good with other dogs and appears to quite like well behaved kiddos. She is unknown with cats. Mostly she’s vigilant about where her people are and loves attention and affection. If you would like to contribute towards Maggie's medical care, please use the Donate button above or visit our Facebook page. Thank you! |
Adoption Process
We strive to post most dogs that we intake on social media as well as our website. Once a dog is posted as “available for adoption” we will ask for applications for that particular dog. We will review, interview, and select the adopter most suitable for that Weimaraner’s needs. Due to constraints in volunteer availability, we may not be able to interview every applicant for every dog. The adoption application is located here.
If you have already filled out an application to adopt and are interested in a particular dog on our website or Facebook, please send us an email to [email protected] or send us a message on Facebook.

Application and Approval
You must complete the entire application and approval process before meeting any of our rescue dogs. This process consists of completing an application using the button below, a phone interview, and a home visit (during the pandemic, we’ll ask for photos of your yard instead).

Adoption Fees
Our adoption fees vary per adoption, ranging from $0 to $700 depending on many factors but primarily the dog’s age. Sometimes we need to spend very little on vet care, rehab etc. and sometimes we spend thousands to give a Weim a chance at a happy life.
If we based our fees on our costs for each dog respectively, young healthy dogs with small fees would be quite easy to place. Older dogs with issues and huge fees however would be very hard to place. Similar to insurance, our adoption fee structure spreads our costs over all our rescues to make sure every dog finds a forever home.
Payment of adoption fees and a signed adoption contract are required when adopting a dog.
